Joining Us at 4+
The admissions process may seem daunting, but our Head of Admissions, Lucy Walton, and Head of Early Years, Zita Spence, will guide you through the entire process and are available to answer any of your queries. As you will see from our step-by-step guide to joining Willington, we offer a number of opportunities for you and your son to visit us, prior to joining, to ease the transition from nursery.

Offer and Acceptance of Places
Normally about 11 months prior to the start of your son’s expected first term at Willington, we will write to offer you a Parent Contract and to invite you to pay the deposit (currently £1,500). The deposit will form part of the general funds of the School and will only be repaid at the end of your son’s final term at Willington in Year 8. Places will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis on receipt of both the deposit and the signed acceptance form. Families who already have a son at the school receive preference in the event of there being more families applying than we have places available.
To bring us in line with other schools in the area, we do offer the opportunity for parents to secure the place in advance of our offer to do so.
At the end of the Spring Term before your son is due to start at Willington, the School will invite you to confirm your allocated place by paying the first term’s fees by the first day of the Summer Term. Otherwise, invoices will be sent out at the end of each preceding term and fees will be payable by or on the first day of the term.
Willington Induction Programme
We hold a number of events to familiarise your son (and you) with ‘big school’. Our tried and tested formula sees boys starting with us confidently in the September and it gives our teachers the opportunity to get to know the boys.
Play Afternoon - an informal event open to boys from the age of 2.5 years.
Nursery Visit - our Reception team visit your son in his nursery setting during the Spring/Summer Term prior to starting with us.
Induction Morning – held on a Saturday morning around June, the boys visit us for one hour and enjoy a host of activities and our teachers spend time individually with each boy.
Meet the Teacher morning – a midweek visit for the boys to familiarise themselves with their new environment.
New Parents’ Evening – a midweek event for our new parents, where the Reception team take parents through day-to-day logistics and helpful tips for getting the boys ready for school.
New Boys’ Picnic – this annual event sees parents and their son, often accompanied by brothers and sisters, joining staff to usher in the new academic year and the start of a wonderful journey together.
