History of the School

“Non scholae sed vitae discimus” - (education for life)

Established in 1885, Willington is an Independent Preparatory School for boys aged 4-13. After a continuous history of 105 years in Putney (which makes it unique - not even the Second World War caused a total evacuation) the school moved to its current Wimbledon location in 1990 so as to gain better premises. It has been a Charitable Trust since 1961.

The School’s motto is the guiding principle behind daily life. Founded on a firm base of Christian values, the boys learn in a disciplined and caring environment.

Each boy is unique, and is encouraged to develop his talents in every area of school life and thus become a fulfilled and self-confident individual. There is a strong partnership between the School and parents. We have an active Parents’ Committee.
