Occasional Places (Years 1-4)

The principal points of entry to Willington are Nursery and Reception. However, occasional places may become available in other year groups, most commonly when families relocate. In the first instance, please contact the Registrar, Lucy Walton at admissions@willingtonschool.co.uk to enquire about current availability.

The following admissions process applies to occasional places:

Visiting the School

Families will be offered an individual appointment with the Headmaster, Mr Keith Brown, along with a tour of the school. For families relocating or based overseas, a Zoom meeting may be arranged.

Register your Child

Parents are asked to complete the online registration form and submit the non-refundable registration fee of £150 (click here).

Reports and References

After registering your child with us, please submit a copy of his/her last school report. At this stage we will write to your child's current school for a confidential pupil reference to support their application.

The Taster Day

Pre-Prep Applicants
Children applying to the Pre-Prep will be invited to spend either a morning or a full day in their proposed class, taking part in normal curriculum activities. The Head of the Pre-Prep will spend time with each child to assess early numeracy and literacy, as well as observing engagement, behaviour and overall fit within our learning environment.

Prep Applicants
Prep applicants will be invited to spend a full day in their proposed class, participating in the usual curriculum. The Deputy Head - Academic, will oversee the completion of online CATs (Cognitive Ability Tests) and a creative writing task. Feedback will be gathered from teaching staff regarding the child’s engagement, behaviour and suitability for the school.

Remote assessments may be arranged for families relocating from overseas.

Offer and Acceptance of Place

Offers are made to pupils who meet the School’s admissions requirements and who we believe will thrive at Willington.

To accept an offer, parents are required to sign and return the Parent Contract, provide a copy of the child’s passport and submit the deposit payment of £2,000.
