MiniBeasts and Creative Projects

The Willington Week ending Friday, 1st May
In Nursery and Reception, children have continued their Curious Creatures – Life in our Forest theme. Equipped with magnifying glasses and a real sense of excitement, they have been searching for minibeasts, discussing their discoveries and creating simple habitats. These sessions are developing both their curiosity and their confidence in speaking about what they observe.
In Years 1 and 2, creativity has been a strong focus, particularly in art, where pupils have been exploring different techniques and materials to create their own pieces. Their work shows increasing attention to detail and a growing willingness to experiment and express individual ideas.
In the Prep years, pupils have been applying their thinking in more complex ways. Time in the LEGO Room has seen them tackling design challenges that require planning, collaboration and resilience, with pupils refining their ideas as they work together towards shared outcomes.
Art continues to be a strength across the school, with pupils producing thoughtful and imaginative work that reflects both skill development and individuality. Alongside this, music rehearsals are underway and pupils are actively engaged in sport, with pupils attending their first tennis fixture of the season.
