French

The French Department at Willington aims to provide our students with a solid grounding in language and social skills in order for them to become confident and proficient speakers.  French is taught throughout the whole School.  The emphasis is on fluency of expression, both written and oral, and on learning through enjoyment.

In the human and social areas of experience, learning a foreign language promotes interaction within and beyond the school.  Several trips to France enable our pupils not only to consolidate their linguistic skills but also to develop awareness of other cultures as a means of combating insularity and preconceived ideas.

By the time pupils leave Willington, they have acquired a sound base in the language and understanding of the world around them, upon which they can build during future study, work or leisure.
