History

The History Department believes in using a combination of traditional teaching methods and the latest technologies to foster our boys’ interests in the events and societies of the past.

Have a look along any corridor and you will see evidence of the excitement this subject generates at Willington.  Egyptians, Anderson shelters, plague rats and medieval castles all feature in our lively, hands-on curriculum that aims to tap into the individual interests of the boys we teach.  Understanding and being able to explain why an event took place is a key part of studying History at Willington, rather than only being able to remember what happened.  When they leave us, many boys go on to study History at university – always gratefully acknowledging the fine grounding they received in the subject from our dedicated and innovative team.
