Willington has four Houses named after elements of the Arthurian legend: Excalibur, Galahad, Lancelot and Merlin. House Competitions are contested every term in a variety of sports and challenges. Every child is encouraged to participate and, as well as winning competition trophies and honours for his House, he also earns House Points for good work and behaviour.
Children earn House Point badges, which they wear with pride showing their accomplishments. The final total of every point won by each pupil and their House teams is added together at the end of the year to determine who wins the much prized House Cup.
Through this system, pupils have an opportunity to earn recognition for themselves, as well as understand how participation and being part of a larger group can reap rewards, along with the benefits of friendly, healthy competition. Willington pupils understand that to have a successful House, everyone has to give their best and every House Point counts. This means all level of competition amongst the pupils has meaning and value.
